Moving from one home to another can be an exciting time, but it can also be stressful–and strenuous. Given the choice, most people would prefer to hire professional packing and moving services in the Johns Creek, GA area, but think they can’t afford to do so.
But when you think about the cost of moving, whether it’s across town or across the country, there are costs involved even when you handle all the moving yourself. After adding up the cost of gasoline, moving van or truck rental and time away from work, you might be surprised at how reasonable it is to hire an expert in residential moving in Johns Creek, GA.
Always ask for a free written quote before committing to and signing an agreement with a moving company. Also, if you prefer the company to pack all of your possessions, or even partially pack them for you, ask the mover to include the costs for those services in the quote.
Moving companies have different price structures for local moves and long-distance moves. Ask about the distance or mile radius that is considered a local move. Be aware of any additional fees. Movers may charge extra for fragile items and extra packing material as well, even if it’s just across town.
Long Distance Moves
First of all, if it’s a local moving company, ensure they are available for long distance, or out-of-state moves. Not all local movers perform long distance moving. The cost of long-distance moves are generally based on the weight of the items plus a base rate, and mileage fees.
Ask about the company’s truck size, and if it’s a smaller vehicle, an estimate of how many trips will be required to move your possessions for a local move. The mover should have packing blankets, tools, dollies, straps, and other special equipment on board. Some companies include these items in the cost, others may try and add on additional fees.
Moving company costs in Johns Creek, GA, may be more affordable than you think, and local companies generally offer better prices than national ones. To find out more about our moving services, call and set up a quote today.

My husband and I are moving into a new home soon and we really need to hire a moving service to help us out, but we have never hired one before. That is a good idea to ask for a quote before committing to an agreement! We would want to know how much we would be paying before we agreed to it! Thanks for the tip!
