Moving is one of the most stressful processes you can endure. You need to pack up all your belongings, load them into a moving truck or trailer, then move to your new home and reverse the process. A big part of the stress is making sure that your stuff arrives safely and without damage. While you can do it all yourself, hiring a professional moving company can help alleviate a lot of the stress that surrounds moving. A moving company can assist in moving your belongings to a new home or to a location with self-storage services locally in Dunwoody, GA. Regardless of the reason for your move, here are a few questions to ask your movers before you agree to trust them with all your belongings.
- What are considered extra services? The last thing you want on the day of the move is to be charged with surprise charges for services that they don’t include in their initial pricing. Knowing what is extra ahead of time will help you be prepared.
- How do you charge? If you are moving locally, you want to know how the company will charge you for the move. Companies usually charge by the hour with a minimum time allotment.
- How do you protect my home and belongings? A professional moving company will take steps to prevent damage to both your belongings and your old and new homes. They should be using moving blankets, foam guards, and other protective items to prevent damage.
- How do you treat special items? Odds are you have a few things that are especially delicate or fragile. Find out what measures the moving company will take to prevent these items from being damaged or destroyed during the move.
Using a moving company can help to take a lot of the stress out of moving. A high quality moving company will be able to provide you with professional storage and moving services in Dunwoody, GA, that allow your belongings to safely move from your old home to your new home. Asking these and other questions will help you ensure that you have peace of mind during the move.

I like what you said about asking what measures a company will take to make sure your specials and sentimental items are safe. My wife and I are planning a big move this summer, and we have a few items that need special care. I will make sure to find a mover who will go out of his way to handle these items safely and carefully.

I think the best things to do to keep a move going smoothly is to have lots of help, and make sure you only pack what you want. This means purging the house and if you don’t have enough friends willing to help, hiring professionals to come and help. Yes getting professionals is more expensive, but there is not nearly as much stress involved and moving is so much easier. So, the best way to make moving bearable. Make someone else do it for you.

I agree with you that moving is hard work! I’ve had to move a couple of times, and every time I end up having a major stress attack! I like the graph that you posted! I need to be better at trashing, selling, and donating. I’ll take your advice and do that more often!
